We worked to form the Youth Jobs Coalition in the fall of 2009 to fight a 50% cut in the state's YouthWorks youth jobs program slated for the summer of 2010.
During 2010,through numerous public actions and meetings with legislators including a 700 person march of youth on the State House on February 18, this cut was stopped saving 2700 youth jobs statewide.
During 2011, the YJC organizing helped get $3.75 million in new youth jobs funding passed. A 1100 person action march and rally was held in February and many local meetings with legislators.
Teens play key roles in leadership in this coalition.
In 2011, the YJC also began meetings with corporations and hospitals to secure new commitments to hire teens.
